Outreach
At monthly Zoom meetings, our 10 member Outreach Team works hard to provide assistance toward local causes, Canada-wide issues and global matters, one person at a time.
Our congregation strongly supports our three annual fund-raisers, as well as providing a steady stream of used clothing for our Pass It On program.
Initiatives We Support
White Gift Campaign
Our White Gift campaign in December has gathered funds for the Salvation Army Family Resource Centre in Brampton for more years than we can count.
The Food Bank
In 2023, we initiated a Reverse Advent Calendar challenge where a non- perishable food item is to be purchased for each day of Advent. The need is huge in Peel. Social workers request food bags for the families in their care. (Weekly food donations prior to this program had provided 83 bags of groceries.)
Pass It On
Our Pass It On team is the hands-on arm of Outreach. Since 2009, we have received and sorted gently used clothing to be given to Regeneration Outreach Community in downtown Brampton (assisting the homeless and precariously housed). Our program expanded several years ago to partner with local social workers at the Peel Children’s Aid and Peel District School Board. Our aim is to fill an anonymous wish-list for each member of a family in need of clothing.
Additionally, we have provided the following sorted/labeled bags/boxes/bins to:
-
200 Regeneration Outreach Community, Clothing Room
-
187 Scott Mission
-
33 Salvation Army
-
